Terpening Trucking has a long history of reliable transportation. From humble beginnings delivering cream to local residents, we now deliver over 600 million gallons of fuel products across 7 states and Canada.

1916 - Charles A. Terpening begins hauling cream in cans from local farms doing business as C.A. Terpening Trucking Company.

1925 - By the mid 1920s, his business grows to a fleet of 10 bulk tank trucks for hauling various dairy products. In 1929, the business moves from Pennellville, NY, to a more central location on Lodi Street in Syracuse, NY.

1932 - George Terpening joins his father at age 20. They expand their hauling capabilities and begin serving throughout the New York City and New England areas.

1935 - The fleet was running with Brockways. This insulated trailer would haul frozen 5-gallon cardboard containers to and from NYC.

1938 - A year of change! Terpening purchases Getney Dairy in Solvay, NY, while at the same time further expanding their business to include petroleum transportation.

1945 - Terpening sells the dairy business to focus on hauling petroleum products. Tractors are gasoline-powered, and trailers are steel.

1957 – A few of our drivers in 1957. Throughout the 1950s to 1970s, George’s sons, Chuck, Dick, and George, Jr. came on board as third-generation owners and management.

1973 - The “C.A.” is dropped, making Terpening Trucking Co., Inc. the official company name. The first Kenworth tractors are also added to the fleet.

Fall of 1980 - Tri Tank Corporation is formed to provide repair service and tank trailer sales to serve the growing needs of Terpening as well as outside customers.

1991 - The business and property are expanding! The land is being cleared for additional trailer storage space, and the building will be added on to 3 more times before it is what we currently have.

2000 Kenworth, with a 99 Heil trailer - Rated 12,000 gallons, tandem axle; a second building was added on to the original building at Farrell Rd.
